Often coaches point out the absurdity of some parts of the fitness or diet industry.
Crazy diet trends, the pointless tiny isolation exercises or “spot reduction” techniques that simply won’t work.
The thing is, the market is always right.
Or, put another way, the culture dictates everything.
There have been very few times where what is acceptable and “normal” as a culture has matched scientific studies, logic and reason.
On a bigger scale, consider global warming. Clearly a universal issue for everyone, yet still barely considered in the broader culture.
The market (culture) dictates when it is open for change, not facts.
Creating change comes from understanding what we are afraid of, what we like as a group, how we think and see the world as much as it comes from understanding the facts.
