Yvon Chouinard is one of my heroes.
A hero for me is usually someone I haven’t met, but I devour their work. My intent is to understand a little more clearly how they see the world. From what I can tell, they embody qualities that I aspire to cultivate.
Sure, he has built Patagonia into a leading company and brand that turns over more than $200m, but he also is an adventurer.
When we read Yvon’s work, we are reading stories. Stories of epic rock climbs, journeys, bike rides, kayak trips and also, stories of human kind and stories of business.
When we embrace the infinite game that is our work, we find a shift.
We realise that we too have stumbled into an adventure of a lifetime, and that we get to choose any path that we like.
We get to write our own stories as well.
