I overdosed on Alfredo Sauce

When I was around 13, once a year or so we would go to a restaurant called Sizzler.

It was an “all you can eat” place. I’ve always been a big eater, so as you can imagine, I was in heaven.

I’d go plate after plate on all the foods we never normally had, until I would finish up with a few serves of the chocolate mousse with coloured sprinkles on top.

One time however, things went a little pear-shaped at the half way mark. Somehow I got the idea (perhaps I was told, maybe it was me…) that the Fettuccini Alfredo “Sauce” was a type of soup – a main meal, as it was in it’s own pot on the table.

So, I came back to the table with a huge bowl of white soup, and ate it all with a big spoon.

I managed to continue, but by the time I hit the mousse – my favourite part, I was sick outside.

It’s easy to get confused.

Sometimes we can get caught up in the noise, the small stuff – the sauce or the entree, and think it’s the main course.

Perhaps it’s something that matters very little, or maybe we can even leave it out completely.

Yes, distraction may be part of it, and another part is simply failing to ask the question: “This thing I’m doing, what is this actually for?”
