Playfulness and intelligence

“Playfulness is a quality that’s closely associated with intelligence in mammals and birds.” – Dr. Ray Peat

Playfulness is a sign of health. A dog, child, or even adult for that matter will recoil from playfulness and social interaction when their health or physical capacity is low.

Playfulness means we have enough resources to bring curiosity to the moment, and toy with the very way in which we perceive reality.

And, playfulness doesn’t necessarily mean silliness.

Work, cooking, taking out the rubbish could be seen as playful with the right perspective.

What do you notice about the last time you felt really playful?

What can you remember about your overall energetic state and health?

How might this exploratory quality be linked to intelligence, innovation or further understanding in your work?
