Writing, Speaking, Thinking.

There’s a speech from a lecturer at MIT, his name is Patrick Winston.

He’s talking to this big group of uni students in a crowded lecture hall. He says that in battle, it’s essential that soldiers don’t go out unarmed with their weapon, and that in life after university, it’s the same with our ability to write or speak.

His assertion is that our ability to speak, write and think is directly related to our ability to succeed, as these are the drivers to create change.

He goes on to talk about his approach to giving a good speech.

It’s an interesting thing is to consider the intersections.

Thinking and writing.

Thinking and speaking.

Speaking and writing.

The three are not just powerful on their own, but they seem to interlock with each other. One helps the other. The ability to share an insight in written or spoken form.

The ability to speak up (even on paper).

And once we start doing so, how does it influence our thinking?
