When I was little, we were homeschooled for a while.
We had a curriculum from correspondence school in New Zealand, but Dad started to bolster it pretty fast.
He added in all sorts of activities, and we would bring in our own ideas as well. For a while, part of my work was to go outside and look at the clouds every day. I would record the type of cloud, cloud cover percentage, wind speed and direction, and humidity.
Basically notice the weather and record it.
I would do this every morning for a while. At the beginning, it was a chore. I remember soon though it getting easier. It certainly wasn’t a “habit.” It was far from automatic, but it was a streak, and it made a difference.
The importance of consistency is nothing new. But sometimes we forget the simplicity of it all.
What can I start today, that would be pretty easy to continue tomorrow, and the day after, and that could make a difference?
What kind of streak could I create that would take me somewhere interesting?
[It’s likely you are running multiple streaks right now anyway – the question becomes which ones serve us and which ones don’t? Eliminating a useless streak might be as helpful as adding a new one.]
