That’s not juggling

There are levels to the juggle game.

The maestros – over 5 balls (!)

The dedicated practitioners – 5 balls.

The keen and capable – 4 balls.

The hobbyists – 3 balls (often pieces of fruit at this level)

The learners – 2 balls…

And really, that’s where it ends.

One ball isn’t juggling – it’s throwing a ball to yourself, and with no balls, well you’re just standing there…

In business, even with a single offering, you’re usually juggling at least two balls. A couple “strengths” or key attributes:

It could be service and price (The cool café, but not the expensive place.)

It could be sustainability and convenience (online Patagonia),

It could be speed and knowledge (local car garage who gets the job done in a day),

Or, it could be belonging and education (an online program or yoga class),

or, it could be any other grouping that’s important to the people you want to help.

You can juggle more than two, but it gets harder to do it well. And if you drop too many, then not only do you risk breaking a promise, you’re also left just throwing one ball in the air, or, just standing there.

Either way it gets harder and harder for us to want to come watch.

Once you’re clear on exactly what your strengths are, and where you want to over-index, you know what balls to really focus on, and what story you’re telling.
