A friend rang up last week – he’d just walked out of a job.
But… he also needed the cash he just walked away from. Bills to pay, and a few months before a new job kicked off.
He had to bridge the gap. I remember doing this once leaving a corporate job. A bit stressful…
We talked for a bit, and he saw three clear options: find another job, borrow, or sell.
We talked about selling. He’s a practitioner, a great skillset in health and wellness.
He could create an information product or course?
He didn’t have a big audience but he had an idea, and we talked about direct sales and any shared networks he has
A couple days later I checked in.
“Yep. Building the site.”
Another day later a new update:
“All good. Filming the videos.”
Next day:
“Two are in.”
Wow. He’s on fire. Five days later:
“I’m sold out! Running another one after it!”
He made more revenue than he needs, and is working hard doing what he loves with great people who want to learn from him.
He’s also created something that can run alongside his future work.
There are four things that stand out:
1. We often need to create urgency for change. It doesn’t need to be leaving a job, but we usually want some kind of pressure.
2. A lot of people are sitting on great value-adding information products or services
3. You don’t need a big audience to start, but you do need to understand sales and your network
4. You can build and test a product quickly (days) if you really commit to action.
The coolest thing about all of it though is he felt so on purpose, he’s overflowing with energy!
Like all long game things, there’s tons of work ahead as he rolls through delivery and ongoing marketing, but it’s always so cool to see what’s possible in a short space of time when we want things to happen.
Ever think about what you could still create or level in your business in 2020?
