Staring at 1,000 puzzle pieces

Maybe you find the corners, and pass them to your friend, and then you set up the edges…

There are a bunch of ways to start this.

Whatever method you choose, you’ve got a bigger choice – how does this pile of 1,000 puzzle pieces make you feel?

What state do you want to be in when you begin?

We can choose to be lost in the enormity.

We can choose to get hyped when we find a piece that takes us a step closer.

We can choose to be bored when we get stuck.

Or, we can choose to be consistent and methodical, and follow our strategy of corners, edges, and matching patterns or colours.

We face the start of puzzles all the time – new businesses, new jobs, new training routines. Things so big they don’t make much sense at the beginning.

The question is, what emotion, or way of looking at this can we choose that’s actually helpful?
