The media whipsaw

If I throw one rock and it hits another – where do they end up?

Which “gives way” the most?

Speed and direction play a role, and the one with the most “mass” also has a bigger influence.

Right now, the culture is getting slammed by constantly changing narratives across different tech platforms and screens.

News cycles are shortening, and the emotional amplitudes are peaking. Maybe you can see it?

So we have a choice.

Do we give more “mass” to the hype-fuelled rollercoaster?

Do we go along for the ride – and let it take us wherever it wants to go?

Or, do we bring some of our own human stability, presence and clear thinking into the conversation?

The choice is ours on how we want to engage or participate.

We can be whipsawed, or, we can bring in stability.

And if we can’t figure out how to do this in a healthy way, it’s probably better to turn it off.
