The Three Steps

  1. Increase awareness

  2. Cultivate emotional intelligence

  3. Take consistent action

Forward focused, repeatable, simple… but not easy.

To do it, we all use help.

In the first step we use others – conversation, a coach, a mentor. We zoom out.

In the second step we use toolsrepeatable processes. Notice the nature of our thoughts, and learn to see fear a little more and cultivate a positive, “lean in” mindset

In the last step, we use a plan and accountabilityPeople talk about “massive action.” It’s sexy. I like the concept of “consistent action.” Big goals, then consistent, regular work with accountability. This is a shift in posture we are looking for, not a once-off.

The cool thing?

This thing ratchets up. Once we are in action, we further increase awareness and so it continues..

In the mass-information and low attention age, the era of podcast and social media learning, we often can see a direction, but also you can simply get stuck somewhere just short of step 1.
