Extra-Ordinary Ideas

In 2008 I worked as a sustainable building design engineer.

Every once in a while, a concept design competition would come up and fortunately I was on the team that got to partake in such things.

We would do the work on these in extra hours. They were a lot of fun.

In this space, it was a case of anything goes.

In fact, the only thing that wouldn’t fly was an ordinary idea. One that is straight out of the box.

If you tried to apply the regular systems and principles with this group, at this time, it was almost frowned upon.

We were looking for extra-ordinary ideas.

There was peer pressure to contribute the odd, strange or even the ridiculous.

Whether it is in conversation, or in business, the interesting thing is that now, with too much available “information,” it is this spark of creativity in the ideas that we are seeking.

The twists, the turns and bringing in of something new, that only you can see and bring forward.

The really cool part is that because we all have our very own unique background and experience, we all have the potential to create another extra-ordinary idea.
