A basic refrigerator has three main functions today:
-
Keep the fridge side cool (around 4 degrees) – Critical
-
Keep the freezer side cooler (about -15 degrees) – Critical
-
Minimise losses, hold structure, fit in the allocated space, not leak, provide storage space etc – Important, but expected
What happens when it’s impossibly noisey?
When you feel a relief when the compressor stops for a few minutes?
A really noisey fridge is both unexpected and unwanted, but also is likely outside the realms of the design brief.
However, it turns out that when we don’t consider the environment in the things that we do or create, we can inadvertently create a product, service or platform that may work on paper, but turns out to be of little use once it’s in action.
