In his books, Carlos Casteneda writes of his lessons from the Shaman/Sorcerer don Juan.
Don Juan talks about the accumulation of inner silence.
To me, this could be likened with stillness, “no mind,” “meditation” or anything you’d like to call the true absence of thought.
Many people ask me “how much should I meditate?” “How often do I need to meditate.”
I believe don Juan’s words to be perhaps a perfect answer:
“Don Juan stated categorically that inner silence was accrued, accumulated.
“In my case,” Carlos writes, “he struggled to guide me to construct a core of inner silence in myself, and then add to it, second by second, on every occasion I practiced it.”
Don juan says that inner silence works from the moment you begin to accrue it.
Again, like many other things, there’s the urgency to start, so that we can simply start to accrue our time on the journey.
