Yesterday I made a trip down to the hot springs on the Mornington Peninsula.
This is about an hour away. We went on a Wednesday. I thought it would be fairly quiet.
The pools were rammed. Like sardines we squeezed into the hot baths with travellers from all over the place.
I love to watch human behaviour though, so it suited me once I got used to it.
What was surprising though, was the chatter. It seemed that although many people may have been several hours away from their homes, on a special trip to experience the naturally hot baths and unwind, they were unable to leave their complaints, gossip and problems at home.
Once they arrived, to sit and relax seemed too scary. Too foreign.
It seems that our tension is perhaps location independent. The opportunity to sit in silence, to “unwind” is suddenly just an idea, but for many, not a reality.
Once we see this, maybe the reverse is also true. If we can carry the tension, we can carry the opposite – the relaxation.
Perhaps we can bring the relaxation with us into the work, or into the city?
