The entropy, or disorder, of any system always increases when in isolation. Things fall apart. Chaos.
To be in “balance” then is really a false idea
To be in balance is really to be aware enough to be able to “respond” and then adjust.
Usually, we react.
But a set reaction won’t work, as each time we start to fall out of “balance,” the system has changed. It’s a new set of conditions, so the old inputs fail.
Seasons are a perfect example of this.
We might have lifestyle and routine that are perfectly in tune in Summer.
Only to have the wheels fall off in Winter.
Why? We were in balance? Everything felt OK?
The natural state though is for this to change. The balance never really existed, but our conditions or actions simply suited what the body and environment asked of us. Now we need to observe and adjust.
For me, how I lived and “trained” 10 years ago eventually broke my body down. The same stimulus doesn’t work for me at all now. Eventually I needed to respond and change.
So, rather than react, we become dynamic. We inquire as to what the body or environment is asking from US.
We watch the body, the breath and the mind for clues.
To find moments of awareness to be able to respond to each clue as they come is the best strategy for the idea of “balance.”
