For the general population, the physical training world is largely held back by a competitive conditioning: what numbers can I do, how much can I lose, what movement can I do… How does that fit with my peers, with the “model” of my belief system..
One of the trades here is that when we have such a focus on the end, we lose focus on the means. On the experience of the practice itself.
What if, as we go, we make art.
Our practice, our warmups, our walks, our showing up each day is the means and the end. It is the art.
What happens when we then choose to fall in love with making art?
Doing the appropriate task for where we are at to the best of our ability, with attention, is the end game.
If this had priority over the number, or the status of the movement, what would that look like?
