Stoking Belief (Personal Power)

Belief, faith, personal power.

Slightly different, but in the context of action, close enough to group.

I’ve written about belief and Personal Power before. In fact, the free 130 page resource Pillars of Power is focused almost exclusively on cultivating personal energy and re-discovering personal power.

Why does this continues to come up?

As we navigate our way through a broader culture that tends to crush this key attribute for a lot of people, a once off realisation around belief, self-sufficiency or personal power is not usually enough. There is a broader conversation here that is worth having.

So if it’s more than a once off, then how do we continue to stoke the fire? What are some tools we can use on an ongoing basis that we can use to help us convince ourselves of our inner power?

  1. The cohort. This is the group of people who see you for who you are. They see your potential. Your fire. They won’t let you off the hook.

  2. Practices. Coming to the centre – the breath, the silence, is for many an essential tool. An ally that we can use to respond rather than react. Reaction can leak belief, response can cultivate.

  3. Remembering. Past hurdles you have overcome, challenges you have faced. It has always worked out. This isn’t a passive “anything goes” stance, but rather a reminder of your own power.

  4. Cutting leaks. A frenzy of alerts, notifications and distractions leaks belief. Why? When we are split in different directions and inundated with social media comparisons, it is difficult to forge our own path.

Stoking belief is essential. While the tools, industry experience, or willingness to show up is a pre-requisite to start, it seems belief is a major requirement to continue.
