Green Eggs and Ham

On August 12, 1960, Green Eggs and Ham was published by Dr. Seuss.

This has sold over 8 million copies world wide.

The story was written in just 50 words, after a bet between Dr. Seuss and his publisher. The bet was that Dr. Seuss could not complete the book in 50 words or less.*

This is known as a constraint – something which a lot of small business, coaches or practitioners have in some form or another. Often though, as we see in this case, the constraint can be used to create something magical.

What constraints do you face that can be used in a remarkable way?

*The 50 words are: a, am, and, anywhere, are, be, boat, box, car, could, dark, do, eat, eggs, fox, goat, good, green, ham, here, house, I, if, in, let, like, may, me, mouse, not, on, or, rain, Sam, say, see, so, thank, that, the, them, there, they, train, tree, try, will, with, would, you.
