When I was 12, we did our first open ocean sailing trip as a family, from NZ to Fiji…
The second half of the trip was rough, I was seasick a lot, when we got into Fiji we “bumped” into a coral head with the keel… There was a lot for us to learn as a family, quickly.
When you do a trip like this, there’s some risk.
The risk of storms, injuries, family feuds… it goes on.
Had we not gone, we would have avoided this risk completely.
In fact, we find that risk is present only because we welcome a future of different possibilities.
If you want to minimise all risk, you need to minimise your available options going forward as well.
No risk, no possibility.
