I eat a chocolate bar, so I hit the treadmill to burn off the 283cal…*
My partner cooks dinner tonight, so I do the cleaning up…
They forget part of my order at the cafĂ©, so they give me a voucher for a free coffee next time…
The “trade” mentality makes sense, it’s embedded deep in our history. It’s convenient and necessary.
But the problem is it’s also missing something. The conditionality is so obvious that there is no celebration.
What happens when you break the flow of trades?
When you give a little moment here, a gesture there?
Whether you’re in business and creating content for your audience, moving your body, or in relationship, the power of the gift is immense.
Difficult for sure, but when you forget about the other side of the trade and do something purely to celebrate its existence, a completely new world opens up.
*For me, it’d be a Whittaker’s Peanut Slab, which apparently hits 283 on the head.
