Michael Jordan played 1,072 games in 15 seasons.
About 41,000 minutes of game time.
He was one of the greatest and most skilled players of all time.
A change or growth in a business, career (or sport) may be fun, but it’s a serious thing.
Firstly we need to acquire the skillset (do the thing well).
Secondly we need to build the connections (build trust with others who are in this new area and prove that we can do this new thing).
Finally we need to see the opportunity (have the empathy and awareness to see a unique change that we can create).
The thing is, the number of repetitions that are required on an ongoing basis for each stage is far higher than most people tend to think is reasonable.
An unreasonably high volume of experiential learning, creation and connection is the only way that you will see the change you want in the timeframe that you are after.
So yes, it may be tiring, yes, it may require that you give up other distracting tasks and yes, you’ll need to watch your energy… but at the end of the day, if you look at any “hero” that you may have in any industry, you’ll see it’s a very, very high volume game.
