“Are we getting anywhere here?”
“What do I say?”
“This guy is crazy”
In a recent group call for the Access Potential Academy I was asked why do I stop talking sometimes on these calls?
We may have a discussion going on, and someone will say something, or I’ll ask a question, then stop…
Silence creeps in.
Silence of course, creates tension. For many people, it’s also uncomfortable.
A lot of narratives can pop up.
On the other side of this silent “craziness” though, if we are lucky, is often a deeper learning. A learning that comes from within. A learning, or growth that comes through this tension.
It turns out, that tension is required for growth.
So in the silence you create for me, I can observe my thoughts in a different way. And if the silence is abrupt, the pause can catch me off guard. I am even more present.
The cool thing is too, we don’t always need one-another. You can create silence for yourself, as can I.
So together, or independently, in silence we find a powerful ally for growth and development.
(Today a new episode of the Access Potential Podcast just came out, we talk a little about this concept of “silence” or space.)
