The Creators Paradox

A creator is someone who is “adding to” the culture.

Art, speaking, writing, designing, baking specialty donuts… whatever.

Sometimes creators really they identify with this… often as “a creative.”

Really though, all of us are creators if we want to be. So the paradox really hits everyone.

Now the creator’s paradox is super simple:

To start, your work is crap.

But “creators” don’t want to put out crap…

The only way it’ll be any good though, is through volume.

If you don’t put out volume, it’ll not only start out crap, but it’ll stay that way.

Here’s the problem: For the sake of the volume required, you’ll need to be OK with putting out something that might very well be crap.

Yet, if you put out something that is crap, how can you still consider yourself a “creator?”

What if someone sees it?

Of course, we’re left only with one option – and that’s to do our best. Forge on anyway.

To reflect, but at the same time to suspend judgment.

To put in our best effort, but at the same time agree to release it to the world no matter what.

Starting, volume, consistency, persistence and reflection are only antidote to being completely frozen at the starting line.
