Study groups, peer to peer circles, Slack channels and Facebook groups can all be powerful ways to learn and grow.
In groups, we benefit from the network effect, open source pools of information and even positive peer pressure – all of these can help us level up.
However, groups can also easily deteriorate. With little warning, they can become gossip channels, distraction hubs that support the current status quo rather than challenge it, or simply empty shells.
Of course there’s typically an energy input that’s required from the creator or facilitator, but as individuals we can also each play an active role in maintaining the standard or intent.
Asking the question “Why am I here?” “What is happening now?” and “Where do we want to go from here?” can be helpful.
As the proverb tells us, we can go faster alone, but we can go further together – however this only stacks up when we have an aligned intent with the general direction we are heading, and each make a stand as individuals maintain the standard as the journey unfolds.
