“Crisis”

In Chinese, the character that represents “crisis” has two parts.

The upper character represents “danger,” and the lower character represents “opportunity.”

The tension that we often feel in a crisis, is real. It’s real because it’s a fork in the road, and there is some risk here of an outcome that we don’t want.

However, in equal parts, there’s opportunity.

Which one we pay the most attention to is something that I’m interested in.

The optimism that leads us to seek the opportunity may not solve the problem in itself, but it is more helpful than the pessimistic view of focusing solely on the danger.
