Language and Intent

a) “I would like to get fit for my wedding.”

b) “I want to lose 5kg.”

c) “I want to “move” a little more each day, and learn to fuel my body well.”

One of these has a set time domain. Two of these lean on external validation or metrics. And only the last one is ongoing, internally driven and qualitative.

We tend to focus linearly – on a date, a number and a quantity, because these are measurable. It makes sense.

And sometimes, it can be more helpful to go completely the other way – to let go of the external pressure, play for infinity and jump in head first for completely selfish reasons.
