Clarity Puts on on the Hook

Water clarity, or “visibility” plays a big role in spearfishing.

With good vis, you can see 15, 20, 25m away. You spot fish movement from a long way off, and you can be clear on your targets.

You’re also on the hook. If an opportunity comes, you either hit it, or, you miss.

The visibility was good, so the rest is up to you.

With poor vis, it can be a lot trickier. It’s often more of a scrappy hunt along the bottom or along rocks, hoping to notice something early enough to get into position.

There’s almost a bit of an “out.” Even with a poor shot, it could have been the poor vis that came into play…

When we are clearer on our work or our goals, we’re putting ourselves on the hook.

Clarity takes away the ability to hide, but also gives us a chance of doing something we’re proud of.
