Starting Too Late

On April 23, 2005, Jawad Karim uploaded the first YouTube video on the platform.

In the late 90’s, permission based email marketing had over 50% open rates.

Now of course, there is constant stream of uploads, and of discarded emails.

This brings the question, is it too late to start?

Well, you’re certainly not going to be a first mover on the platform.

You’re likely not going to go viral, or amass millions of “followers.”

Once you accept this, the far more important question is, do you have something to say?

If you have something to say, or a change you want to see happen, then “it’s too late” is just a story we tell ourselves not to begin.

Once we see this and get started anyway, then the question becomes: “What story do I create, and how do I make my work better?”
