To enrol is to embrace friction, and to tell a story.
We’re trying to help people see that if they consider coming along with us on our journey, they might find a better future.
Until we speak up, the other person is happily enjoying their own version of normal. Your event, workshop or program then brings in a choice.
And this choice is asking them to deviate from what they otherwise would have been doing and join your journey.
Here lies the friction.
The enrolment, or invitation then, takes work. It takes empathy, storytelling, and the willingness to speak up.
The notification though is something else completely.
This is a simple message, or a sign – “Hey! this is happening.“
Usually, it’s an interruption, and it’s easy. It’s easy to do, and it’s easy to ignore. The whole process of the notification has no tension.
While both have a place, if you’re not getting as many people as you’d like to your events or program, you may need to do a little more enrolling, and a little less notifying.
