“I want to run a marathon, any tips”
What am I really asking here?
Is it the “how” of running technique, nutrition and program design?
Or, are the tips I’m looking for around consistency, accountability and patience?
When we kick off a health journey, or try to launch a business, we typically have some hurdles.
In goal setting, these might be outlined as “the challenges that I’m likely to face.”
When we think of these – take the example of the marathon, we often have two groups of challenges that we might seek help on.
- The strategic questions. Technique, programs, outlines, patterns, maps. Ways of operating.
- The rest: accountability, mental hurdles, consistency and persistence.
While both are great questions, it’s important to know which one we’re asking, and which one we tend to ask the most. From here we get some direction on where the main work lies and how we can best go about it.
