“Art is the human act of doing something that might not work. Something for the first time. Something that’s generous.” – Seth Godin
Creating “art” should be natural.
Kind of like walking.
Or maybe even easier than walking. Because when we consider Seth’s comment, no matter how hard we try, we fail to find any structural difficulty in this whole thing.
However, on the contrary, this process has become almost impossible.
As a group, we are generally frozen by fear, and our capacity for exposure has come close to zero.
On the other side of creating though, consuming has become even easier.
Not just technically, but we are trained for it habitually.
We are prepped for consuming.
If this is true, how could I become “prepped” for creating art?
What’s one small act of generosity I can do today to begin training?
