The right hand-wash

There’s a small breakfast-restaurant not far from here that does a great eggs on toast. It’s the perfect sized meal to go with their single origin coffee.

The fans here enjoy the vibe – the plants hanging on the wall bring a bit of softness to the bustling space. People take a little longer to eat their meal here, partly because the food is great, and, partly because the staff are friendly and will often hang back and chat to you for a few minutes after your order.

It’s a particular mix of high quality, street-style, and friendly vibe, instigated from the top down, by the owner.

In the bathrooms, they use a particular brand of hand-wash.

This is a local, hand-made brand, again, known for it’s style and ethical ingredients.

When they run out, the café owner personally drives out to get more of the wash.

He could pop next door to the supermarket. They could use any soap, or even any organic hand-wash. But they don’t. He knows that the choices they make even off the menu, tell a story about who they are, and what they believe in.

And, if you believe what they believe, when you dine in, you’re a part of the story, and it feels good. You feel a little more satisfied.

Not just more satisfied because of the eggs on toast, or the hand-wash, but with how you feel about yourself.
