“You do you” means embrace your individuality. Your idiolect. Your own style and your story.
But “you do you” doesn’t mean ignore the people in front of you. It doesn’t mean don’t listen to what the people you want to help are saying. And it definitely doesn’t mean wing it and it’ll all work out, because you’ve done you.
“You do you” is a conscious choice of embracing your values and beliefs, that can (and has to) go alongside empathy for the people you want to help.
Self awareness and confidence is great. And, so is intention and generosity.
