Action vs. Activity

Activity means buzz. A loop. Fish swimming around, feeding on the surface.

Action is a vector – it has direction and intent. Not a loop, but a journey. A fish or a bird striking.

Sometimes there’s a place for activity, but all too often it becomes a stand-in for action. It lets us hang on to the feeling that we have something going on, but really we could just pause, sit still and rest and be just as well off.

Activity keeps us busy. Action moves us forward.
