The story you tell.

I was leaving the city, and passing through the outskirts of town.

On the left, I saw a blue house which stuck out a little closer to the nature strip by the street.

The blue paint was fading and peeling in spots, and against the bright blue sky, it looked almost had a greyish tinge.

In front of the house, was a shopping trolley. It was flipped upside down and deserted on the lawn that was a month or two overdue for a mow.

Along the top of the house, was a fading sign: “DENTAL SURGERY.”

I thought – would I book my next appointment here? Would you?

There’s every chance that the dentists that run the shop are some of the best in the town. But the story they tell indicates otherwise.

The story you tell in your business includes everything around how you show up. When we see how you think about your workplace, your marketing, your weekly meeting, or how you treat your staff, it helps to tell a story of how you think about your work.

And for the market, it’s the story that matters, as this includes the craft itself.
