Yesterday I recorded a 60 minute live interview with a business owner, talking about marketing.
It was my first time using YouTube, and, my first time with the new recording setup.
Here’s what I learned:
- The setup for something new always takes longer than you expect.
- “Live” creates synchronicity and the opportunity for real time interaction.
- A decent camera setup and framing makes a big difference to the user experience.
But the most important lesson was to always measure twice, and cut once.
I tried a new way of running the audio, and it resulted in almost an hour of echo – and an almost useless audio track.
Maybe it’s getting clear on your ideal client, finding a good personal trainer, or researching the right size bicycle for you before you buy. Either way, measuring twice takes time. And, it always feels like time you don’t have.
But it’s a lot faster to tussle upfront and address the issue than it is to redo the entire thing because you were impatient.
